Jessica Russell is a rising star in Canada’s country music scene, known for her heartfelt lyrics, engaging stage presence, and a voice rooted in authenticity. Hailing from Nova Scotia, her passion for music and storytelling has taken her coast to coast — from Vancouver to Whitehorse, where she headlined a show at the oldest hotel in the Yukon — connecting with audiences across the country. Her tour stops have included well-known venues like Ranchman’s in Calgary, TransCanada Brewing, The Carleton, and several major exhibitions throughout Nova Scotia.
Jessica has shared the stage with some of Canadian country’s biggest names, including Aaron Goodvin, The Washboard Union, Shawn Austin, and Emerson Drive, bringing her own brand of down-to-earth charm and powerful vocals to every performance.
Her debut single, Here We Go, introduced her talent for crafting relatable, story-driven songs. Since then, she’s continued to make waves with releases like Pause On Over — earning national radio play and showcase opportunities — and She Can Keep It, which climbed to #3 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown and earned her two nominations at the 2025 Josie Music Awards in Nashville for Song of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.
Beyond the stage, Jessica is passionate about building her musical community. She is the founder and organizer of Country at the Cross, a music festival launched in 2022 to spotlight local talent in her hometown of New Ross, Nova Scotia. The 2025 edition featured 12 artists and drew over 600 attendees. She also leads Song Circle, an after-school program for aspiring young singer-songwriters, offering guidance in songwriting, recording, and live performance.
A true collaborator and community builder, Jessica regularly co-writes and creates new music with local artists, staying grounded in her East Coast roots while continuing to grow her national presence. With every song, show, and initiative, Jessica Russell is shaping a career defined by heart, purpose, and undeniable talent.

2025
Jessica's single "She Can Keep It", released February 14th 2025 peaked at #3 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown, and received "Song of the Year" Nomination at the 11th Annual Josie Music Awards in Nashville, TN.
Jessica also received a second nomination for "Songwriter of the Year" at the Josie Music Awards.
Jessica performed at several Nova Scotia Exhibitions and Festivals this past summer, including the Annapolis Valley Exhibition, where she had the opportunity to open for Shawn Austin on the Riverside Main Stage on Saturday, August 16.
Jessica organized and headlined the 2nd Annual Country at the Cross Music Festival, an organization in which she founded in 2022.
She also started an after school program & summer camp to coach and inspire the next generation of songwriters in her hometown. Students wrote, recorded, and performed their original songs with the help of Jessica and friends.
Other show highlights for summer 2025 include South Shore Exhibition, EMERGE HFX Music Festival, Halifax County Exhibition, Chester Race Week, Lunenburg Food N Craft Festival, Liverpool Privateer Days, and Music on the Riverbank.
Jessica is set to make her international debut at The Get Up show in Nashville, TN this November.
2023/2024
Released single "Here We Go" (July 2023), which peaked at #7 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown, and sparked the idea for a Canadian Bar Tour from Nova Scotia to Vancouver, BC.
The "Here We Go Tour" kicked off in Nova Scotia in the fall of 2023, and ended in Vancouver, BC in December 2023, stopping in 6 provinces along the way.
After wrapping up the tour, Jessica moved to Calgary for 6 months to immerse herself in the Alberta country music scene, making meaningful connections and touring the province.
Before returning to Nova Scotia in July 2024, Jessica set out on an Alberta Tour - with an extra special (unexpected) stop in Whitehorse, YT.
Released single "Pause On Over" (February 2024), which received National Radio Play (on over 50 stations) and made the Top 10 "CanCon Downloads, Most Active Indies, and Top Country Downloads" charts, for repeating weeks. (Sharing the latter with Beyonce's "Texas Hold Em"), and peaked at #12 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown.

Jessica performed at various exhibitions and music festivals around Nova Scotia, including Country at the Cross Music Festival, and EMERGE HFX Music Festival to name a few.
Jessica and her band opened for Shawn Austin on the Riverside Main Stage at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition.
Jessica is hitting the road again this fall, making her International debut in Nashville, TN on November 6th, and heading back to Calgary, AB for another show in November.
Kicking off in October 2023, Jessica headed coast to coast on a cross-Canada Bar Tour from Wolfville, Nova Scotia to Vancouver, BC.
Beginning in Calgary, Alberta in June 2024, Jessica took her music on the road again, visiting places like Whitehorse, Yukon Territory before heading back to the East Coast to finish out the fall.
Jessica came 1st place in the Road to the Stage Singing Competition at the South Shore Exhibition, where she went on to open for headliner Aaron Goodvin.
Jessica opened for The Washboard Union at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Center in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia.
